Aerobic Threshold
Working out is essential to good health but most people do not enjoy going for that long run. One of the main reasons is the feeling you have when you start running. For the first 4 minutes, your body is making energy using anaerboic process, meaning that your are trying to do an aerobic workout and your body is suppling it with energy the wrong way. There is no way to get around this other than to keep going and condition your body to find a rhythm in the first few minutes of your workout. Once you hit that threshold of around 4 minutes, you will get a second wind and be able to enjoy your run much more. Keeping that in mind, the prospect of a long run can become much more enjoyable if you just keep in mind that after 4 minutes, things will get a lot easier as your body transitions into aerobic mode. |
